Welcome to The Schenck School! David Schenck founded the School in 1959, and I am incredibly honored to have the opportunity to continue the important work inspired by his vision almost 57 years ago.
There are many reasons The Schenck School is special. One of the most significant is our student body. As you probably know, dyslexia, until it is understood, can make learning very difficult. When a student struggles with reading, writing, or spelling, it impacts their success in school and their self-esteem. I am inspired by the intelligence, effort, and resilience The Schenck School student brings to the learning process. Once they are here, our highly trained faculty use the Orton-Gillingham Approach to provide focused, accelerated dyslexia remediation. The results are nothing short of life changing.
Unlike most schools, we celebrate when our students leave to further their education elsewhere. Each year, our alumni scatter to schools across the metro Atlanta area and beyond, but the stories they share with us have common threads: “I’m proud to be dyslexic,” “I advocate for myself,” and “I am a reader.
I am very happy to join the faculty and staff here at The Schenck School as we continue to honor Mr. Schenck’s legacy and help our students read, rise, and fly!
