Computer Education
Computer Education at The Schenck School strives to teach students the tools necessary to be successful students in the 21st century.
Integrating technology into the current curriculum is the goal of computer education. An additional goal is to prepare each student with the knowledge and the confidence necessary to be successful in a traditional educational setting thus preparing students as stated by the School mission statement.
On a weekly basis, students in first through sixth grades are in the computer lab learning how to research online, collect resources, write, revise and be creative using technology. The School is diligent in making sure that only age-appropriate access to computers, software, the Internet and other necessary technology to facilitate learning are available to students. Microsoft Office programs are taught in tandem with projects currently going on in the classroom.
Kindergarten students have computers in the classroom and have an active computer curriculum within their daily schedules.
This co-curricular course is designed to enhance the curriculum. Moreover, as with all students and especially to a Schenck School student, the computer can be an invaluable tool for all subjects and means for creativity.
