Parent Education

We believe that the most effective outcomes for our families occur when parents are educated about dyslexia and learning differences in addition to immersing our students in the Orton-Gillingham Approach and other research-based teaching methods.

Opportunities include:

  • Parent Education Series – A series of distinguished speakers are hosted during the year to speak to parents, faculty and staff about pertinent learning and parenting issues.  A schedule will be provided in August.
  • Parent Discussion Group – A discussion group led by a parent of a current Schenck School student and attended by administration members is open to all parents and friends.  A topic pertaining to dyslexia, learning and parenting  is provided for each session and appropriate books are suggested to be read prior to the discussion.  More information will be provided in August.
  • IDA Conference – An excellent day-long conference held in Atlanta in February by the Georgia Branch of the International Dyslexia Association.
