Art
The goal for The Schenck School art program is to establish a basis for art appreciation and art history and continue to build confidence in our students.
The teacher meets with each class once a week. During classes through out the year, students work with mediums such as drawing, painting and clay sculpture. When a students leaves The Schenck School they will have the skill and confidence to produce wonderful works of art as well as discuss art in abstract terms.
At The Schenck School, students receive concrete "how to" directions and make use of all mediums. It is by clear direction and medium exploration that students can take their new-found knowledge and use it to make their own creations. The reason some may struggle with art is because no one has shown them how to make good art. The Schenck School has had wonderful success with this technique because students feel safe knowing they have a foundation from which to work. Creating expressive, exciting works of art then comes naturally.
