The Start of a New Year

The first day of school at The Schenck School is always full of excitement, anticipation, and a bit of nervous energy, and this year was no different! The morning began with a lively and busy carpool, where students were greeted with warm smiles and eager waves as they returned to campus. We even saw lots of dogs supporting their best pals on their first day back, adding an extra layer of joy to the morning. It was wonderful to see familiar faces and welcome new ones into our community.

As students made their way to their classrooms, the energy was palpable. Teachers were ready and waiting, eager to meet their new groups of students and start the year off on a positive note. From the moment they entered their classrooms, students were immersed in activities designed to get them back into the rhythm of learning. Whether it was diving into a good book, exploring new classroom spaces, or engaging in thoughtful discussions, our students showed that they were ready to hit the ground running.

A significant part of the day was dedicated to helping students understand and get comfortable in their new learning environments. Teachers took the time to guide them through classroom routines, introduce them to new tools and resources, and foster a sense of community among classmates. Another highlight of the day was the opportunity for teachers and parents to meet and discuss their "Hopes and Dreams" for the school year. Hearing from parents about their aspirations for their children is always inspiring, and it reinforces the strong partnership between home and school that is so vital to student success.
